kingedward?@kingquakuedward tweeted on 20th may, “#MzVee nominated for #BETAwards2016, it means tutulapatu could also be nominated and probably l’d win nxtyr, very surprised still.” Nana Amaru Tweeting @HollaAmaru also stated “i think @Wiyaala and @shattawalegh made it big than #mzveeher nomination for @BETAwards 16 is a waste of slot for Ghana.” But Jessica, who did not take kindly to some reactions from some sections of the public, last Saturday night on Celebrity Fanzone, called for a stop to the bickering and rather support their own.
“What we need to do as Ghanaians is to rally behind our own and push her. I love her [MzVee] voice and I love her songs, she has paid her dues and I think it’s her time.” Regular co-host Akosua Hanson and TV show producer, Chris Kata, who both expressed similar sentiments shared by Jessica. Chris, who was on the show for the first time, minced no words by saying that Ghanaians do not support their own. “Mzvee has been nominated, we are Ghanaians, lets support your own,” Akosua also added. In the past, representatives of Ghana at the BET Awards have put up a very strong show with Sarkodie and Stonebwoy winning the awards in 2011 and 2014 respectively.
