German defender Jerome Boateng has posted a photo of himself, his Ghanaian brother, KP Boateng and Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt with the caption “Big up Usain bolt, Good luck in Rio”. The six-time Olympic gold medalist suffered a grade one hamstring tear during the Jamaica National Senior Championships earlier this month and was forced to withdraw due to the injury.

Bolt had earlier posted a statement on Twitter saying he experienced ‘discomfort’ in his left hamstring, a statement which made his fans all over the world give up the hope of seeing the athlete in Brazil. There was also fear that his preparation for the game had been thrown into disarray. The 29-year-old 100m and 200m world record holder traveled to France this week to meet up with his German doctor, Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt in a bid to speed up his rehabilitation and bumped into the Germany squad at Euro 2016. Boateng’s message seems to have given fans the hope of seeing Bolt back for the games which commences on August 5.
