”Kumawood” movies acknowledging the pivotal role these movies played in ensuring the interests and hope of a movie industry.
Despite persistent calls and objection by film critics in Ghana condemning movies produced in Kumasi that have often been tagged by many as’’ poor’’, award winning Ghanaian actor Price David Osei has against all odds commended such movies .
In a chart with Busumuru Sean Kingston, Prince David Osei disclosed although there were a lot of challenges, Kumawood movies kept the movie market going at a rough moment when the Ghanaian market was almost nonexistent.
When asked about the diversity between the Akan speaking movies and English movies, Prince David Osei said some of the movies that are done in the local languages are targeted for a particular kind of audience, if you don’t speak twi obviously you might not understand but you might follow the actions and still love and appreciate the movie’, the English movies obviously has a wider market, a lot of people speak English so you can sell overseas, all over Nigeria and others ,so basically I think is just the language ‘’
Prince David confirmed that, in terms of production wide Kumawood are produces more on the market than the (Ghalywood) English speaking movies.
He commended the Kumawood Industry for upgrading their technical knowledge by displaying a lot of visual effects in their works.
Prince David Osei disclosed to Busumuru that, the kumawood industry has a united front than that of the ghallywood.
