Cape Coast based, Adisadel College has won big the 2016 National Science & Maths Quiz beating off stiff competition from Mfantsipim School and Opoku Ware SHS.

Adisadel College ably represented by Annin Ridley Osei-Assibey and Isaac Amfoh K. Mensah made sure they adhered to the motto of their school which is 'Either the first or with the first'.

The keenly contested contest saw Adisadel winning big with 44 points followed closely by Opoku Ware with 38 points and then Mfantsipim with 37 points.

The aim of the National Science & Maths Quiz is to promote the study of the sciences and mathematics, help students develop quick thinking and a probing and scientific mind about the things around them.

Journey to the grand finale
Before getting to the finals, Adisadel which was a seeded school (quarter finalist from last year’s competition) sent Tamale Isalmic SHS and Dzodze-Penyi SHS home at the 1/8 stage of the competition with 51 points.
The school also showed Tamale SHS and Benkum SHS the exit during the quarter finals with 49 points.

At the semi-final stage, Adisco beat Accra Academy and underdogs Kumasi Secondary Technical School with 44 points.

In the finals, they took the lead right from the first round throughout to the final round.

Take home prize packages 
For winning the competition, Adisadel College took home GHC 40,000 whilst the contestants together with their teachers who accompanied them received GHC 15,000 each.

Opoku Ware was presented with GHC 30,000 for placing second with the contestants and tutors receiving GHC 10,000 each.

For placing third, Mfantsipim School received GHC 20,000 whilst the contestants as well as their teachers received GHC 5,000 each
