The minister of communications, Dr Edward Omane-Boamah, has conveyed a message from the Ghana Meteorological Agency, urging Ghanaians to avoid fast flowing water after persistent rains on Thursday across some parts of the country.

“The Ghana Meteorological Agency has advised that the rains will continue for a while longer; hence the general public should avoid fast flowing water, move from lower ground to higher places if need be and call emergency lines- including 112 should the need arise”,

the minister quoted the agency as saying. The rains have caused flooding in some parts of Accra: It comes a week after Accra marked the one year anniversary of the June 3 flood and fire disaster which claimed 153 lives.
