Jose Mourinho has made his first signing as Manchester United manager and the player is Ivory Coast’s defender Eric Bertrand Bailly who has joined from Villarreal on a four-year deal with the option for a further two years. Bailly, 22, was part of the Africa Cup of Nations-winning squad that beat Ghana in 2015 and will be arriving at Old Trafford for a reported fee of around £30million whilst hoping his work permit is sorted out successfully.

The young defender told the club’s official website: “It is a dream come true to be joining Manchester United. To play football at the highest level is all I have ever wanted to do.” Bailly was a key man for Villarreal where he made 47 appearances since joining in January, 2015.
