Musician Wanlov the Kubolor has questioned the commitment of the John Mahama administration to banning plastics, which experts say is degrading the environment.

President Mahama hinted in July last year that the government would be compelled to ban plastic if an efficient means was not found to plastic waste management.

“It has become such a pernicious pollutant…if the producers of plastics don’t do something about it, then we might have to go the Rwanda way; in Rwanda plastics are banned, nobody use plastics and yet they are surviving,” he said.

But almost a year on, no action has been taken to curb the plastic menace.

The situation prompted Wanlov Kubolor to point out to President Mahama on Facebook that the situation was getting worse.

He said if the government was really keen on banning plastic, it would not have granted approval to some beverage companies to package their products in plastic.
